The plant root system is grown in special X-ray penetrable culture containers and culture media, emitting X-rays from a low-energy digital X-ray emitter on one side, and detected by an X-ray camera on the other side.The X-ray emitter is fitted with an openable protective door in front of the emitter, so that when the door is closed, all X-rays are shielded out. The instrument housing has an internal lock so that no X-ray leakage can occur.
